David V. Johnson
David is a Londoner of Jamaican heritage. He is a multilingual creative and works in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish. He has a BA (Hons) in French, Spanish and Portuguese from Liverpool University, a graduate law diploma in from the University of Law, Bloomsbury, an MA in Drama & Theatre Studies from London University (Royal Holloway), and a PhD in British Cultural Studies from Warwick University. David’s academic writing focuses on the contribution of Black British and African Caribbean theatre practitioners to British mainstream theatre performance. In 2021 Bloomsbury first published his book Talawa Theatre Company: A Theatrical History and The Brewster Era. He is also published in Kunapipi: The Journal of Postcolonial Writing. David’s novel writing positively explores the relationships between Caribbean fathers and their British sons.
