Dragoslav Mihajlovic 1930-2023
Dragoslav Mihajlovic was born on November 17th, 1930 in Cupria, Yugoslavia. In 1950 he was arrested as a political prisoner and spent 15 months at Goli Otok. After leaving prison he worked a variety of jobs such as stacking hides and distributing posters for a circus. In 1957 he graduated in Yugoslav literature from the University of Belgrade. His first novel, When Pumpkins Blossom won the prestigious October Prize but the dramatic adaption was banned by the Tito regime. He went on to publish 9 more novels and win various awards. He passed away in March 2023.
