H.S. Burnat

Trained as an engineer, H.S. Burnat was born in Beijing and developed a keen interest in art and literature. After receiving a master’s in Publishing from UAL, she worked as a rights manager, introducing many children’s books into the Chinese market for the first time, including Philip Reeve’s Mortal Engines and Jonathan Stroud’s Bartimaeus Sequence.

Her early YA novels gained recognition among the Chinese audience, and now she writes middle-grade novels in English. She has a passion for adventure travel and has visited more than 40 countries across 6 continents with her young family. When she’s not travelling, she divides her time between London and the hills of the Scottish Highlands.
