Desta Haile

Desta Haile is a British-Eritrean writer, musician, educator, TEDx Luanda speaker, and Malala Fund consultant. She is the winner of the 2021 Afritondo Short Story Prize, and the 2020 To Speak Europe in Different Languages Prize. Her writing has featured in Afritondo, Badform Review,Specimen Press, and Pan African Music. From 2021-2023, Desta was Deputy Director of the Royal African Society and coordinated London’s largest African literature and film festivals, Africa Writes and Film Africa. 

She holds an MA in Black British Writing from Goldsmiths, University of London.
